Was comparing this cooler to the most popular 'other' coolers everyone seems to get (tt 120 & tr u-120 e) and i prefer the look of this one, considering it already comes with a highly-rated fan whilst the tr ultra doesn't come with one, and the tt 120's isn't as quiet apparently. i've also heard from a few places that a worrying number of tr ultra-120s come with a curved base which is rather off-putting.

also an interesting article over at hardocp where they benchmarked all three in a hsf roundup (using the same fan for each) here

Just wondering what kind of temps people get with this cooler on a C2D?

Well rig in sig and I'm currently at 34/34 on each core. The fan is very quiet and does an excellent job of keeping the HS nice and cool. See the below pic for full load temps on 12hour 95% overclock on my E2140. The max during the 12hr stress test i had was 60deg and that was with heating on full and me breaking a sweat.

Its a good Silent Cooler but not extreme, fins are also spaced far apart so the Silent low pressure fan can push air past them.

Got one of these on an e6600 @ 3.2ghz, 1.45 vcore, temps are 44c idle, around 58c load with orthos. Very quiet, well made, easy to fit top piece of kit if you ask me.

Good to hear, was interested in the cooling since my main priority is the noise level without compromising too much.

From the reviews I've seen the TR U120A has always been a few degrees better then the Noctua so why not go for that and a decent fan, the prices should roughly be the same. With the HSF mounted and even a window in the case you can't really see that much of the HSF so don't buy just on appearance.

This cooler (the Noctua NH-U12F) was reviewed by a guy on these forums here.
I like reviews from end users as they seem more accurate.

Shame really he didn't have another cooler to test it against.
