Hi,
Been getting this recently, what exactly does it mean? Does it mean the disk is damaged?

Yeah,
I've seen that message before but always assumed it was nothing to worry about. Maybe one of those areas that NOD doesn't have access to.........no problems with my HDDs either..

NOD32 just informs you of which files are in use and can't be scanned. They should have already been scanned when they first started up.

Excellent that's a good thing then. I thought they were not being scanned at all

I dont know if anyone else has had this one with NOD32, but I have only had it on a fresh install...

O&O Defrag 8.5 ( I cant remember it doing it until fairly recently, so maybe 8.0 will do it.

Now, install NOD32 and after you have restarted, if oyu try going near the O&O Defrag folder, half the files are virus ridden.

Update NOD32 and itsfine after that, but it half a bloody pain in the bum.

I need to remember to NOT install O&O until AFTER NOD32 is fully up to date.

Here is a copy of an email that I sent Esset about why I was getting these errors also .....

I wrote ...

Can you please tell me why some text appears in blue when I am scanning
my rig? It usually says something along the lines of 'error opening
(file locked)4!

Any info you can give me on this would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Al

Their response was ....

These are invariably system files which are in use by Windows, and
therefore cannot be accessed by another program (including anti-virus
software). This is quite normal and thus nothing to worry about, as the
fact that these files are locked means that a virus could not infect
them either.

I hope this puts your mind at ease
