NOD32 Install

Just about to order this for download. Quick question. Has anyone installed this from a download, rather than a disk? If so, is the download an application type file that can be saved and installed at a later date?

The reason I ask is that I am about to rebuild my system, but before I do I am downloading the latest of everything I'll need, graphics drivers, etc. And was wondering if it was worth ordering NOD32 now, getting the download file, and then installing it after the rebuild.

I hope that makes sense???

Any advice

just keep your login details, you can return to the nod32 site and download again (it just asks for your login before it lets you see the files)

done it tons of times

you need your login details during install too (or you wont get updates)

I don't mean to be anal, but if I need to connect to the net in order to download the anti-virus, I'll be connected to the net without an anti-virus install... if you see what I mean.

Is that a problem in this case... or am I being a little precious?

if you've got SP2 installed, then you should be ok (becuase it has a firewall with it)

do you have a router ? thats a very good first line of 'defence' to have, i'd happily connect my pc (with SP2) to my router and connect to the net w/o av

as said you can download it anytime from their site as long as you have your login details (norton actually charge extra for this  )

The NOD32 file download is an EXE self-extracting archive. So yes, you can store it on your hard disk for future reinstall. That's what I do.

btw, there's a new version out (last week ish?) 2.7

has spyware protection now too, need to find someone's pc thats trashed with spyware to test it out, dont fancy nailing my own pc tbh!

Didn't know it had spyware protection. I think the important reason for the upgrade was to get it working on Vista, which is now does I can happily report. :D

Cheers just downloading it now. I'll tell you in a few hours what the spyware protection is like.:p

v2.70.16 is mostly just a Vista compatibility upgrade with added rootkit detection.

What happens to the trial version after it runs out? Ive installed it on my brothers laptop for him and im not sure what happens after the 30 days or however long it lasts.

Sooo... What's it like?
It seems OK actually. No major difference in appearance. I did asked if I wanted NOD to use the Anti-Stealth technology. So apart from the Vista support the Anti-Stealth technology is really the only major change for this version I enabled it.

It hasn't made any visible difference, in that no programs have been queried or blocked but then I only use the reputable pr0n sites.;)

I say go for it, NOD 2.7 that is not reputable pr0n sites.:p
