NOD32 vs Avast which is better?

@OP
I'd say you were in a better position to judge than most. Give it 6 months & write a review.
Avast has been sound for me & i game Lots & take in my quota of porn as well

It's an indepth but rather burocratic study to find out whether it is worth paying for NOD32 over Avast!

:o

It was supposed to be a joke but you managed to kill any potential comedic value with that comment :(

Burnsy
Meh. :p

Bureaucratic you meant btw. Don't think I killed off any comedic value. Can't see anything lying about that looks like fresh roadkill. :p

Thanks very much for your opinions.

I'm using both (Avast on laptop and NOD32 on desktop). I'm not sure which one is better though...

Ditched AVG when I read that it's more resource hungry that Norton AV!

I was actually surprised the other day when I had to install an AV on a few computers at a site I was on on and I as always as a free AV I choose AVG.

The systems were slow, some with only 128mb of RAM but it does there job but I couldn't get AVG to run on them at all. I mean AVG killed there computers. You don't notice when you run it on a nice modern system with 512mb but anything less and you see how Norton like it can be.

Instead I decide to throw on Avast which I never used but it worked much better but still a tad hungry.

When someone says AVG is light on resources, I'd bare to differ.

Ok Nod32 and Kaspersky might not be perfect but for a superior AV they need the extra juice to perform the way they do.

Happy Nod user here - never had issues with software conflicts. Had a minor problem with a previous build not updating. Tech support solved the problem within hours of emailing them <- that is worth paying for IMO ;)

avast is free. no reason to pay for anything more, really

True, personally no real reason to pay for an AV,even if I did I would rather go for Kaspersky 7 or even Bitdefender over NOD32 ,NOD32 is overrated.

I have used Panda,Kaspersky,AVG,AVAST,Avira,Nod32,Bitdefender etc and the only one that I keep going back to is Avast, however Kaspersky/Bitdefender are probably my favourite paid anti-virus software.

Funny how subjective it is - tried Kaspersky before Nod32, never going back ;)

Recently switched from NOD32 to Avast, and Avast picked up a virus immediately on reboot after install, and removed it successfully too.

Make of that what you will. I know how popular NOD32 is on here, and this forum is the reason I decided to go for it in the first place.

Having said that Avast recently had a client update which I installed tonight and BF2 was lagging all over the shop after the install. :(
