Hi all,
I recently got a quote from Noel Dazely (http://www.noeldazely.co.uk/) as my insurance is due. They had a post on the SeatCupra.net forums, saying they were offering decent discounts for Leon's in particular.

So, I got a quote, which beat my renewal by £150, and most other insurers by £300 or so. The staff seem friendly and helpful, but i've never been insured with a smallish company, so am a bit dubious.

Is anyone insured with them? How do you find them to deal with?

Cheers,
Matt

Some of the young guys on the fiat coupe forum insure their cars with them because they offer good premiums on modified cars.

Yeah, i've seen quite a few good posts about them on things like the Volvo T5 forums, the Fiat Coupé forums, etc etc. Just wonder what I will be missing out on by avoiding one of the big insurers. 24 hour telephone line is one of the most obvious things, but I can live with that for the £££ saving.

You'll probably still be covered by a major company, they're just a go between.

I wouldn't worry about it :)

I'm with Chris Knott who are underwriten by Highway insurance. Have a 24hr number etc.

S'spose so, however, I think Noel Dazely ask you to contact them directly, as I enquired about that. They do give you a 24hr number to ring in case of an accident however. Beat's me a bit how a small company can give such a good price, which the big boys can't touch?

Guess it's just because they have a smaller client base and are aimed at particuler groups. You show a Skyline GTR V-Spec to NUD and they'd **** themselves! :o

Merlin would be able to shed more light I suppose.

Yeah, that does make sense actually. I guess they better understand what and who they are dealing with.

Well, for the amount i'll save, it seems to be worth taking the plunge. The excess is only £250 as well, which is a lot better than my current one.

They charged extra for a GruppeM induction kit yeah, but it wasn't much. There are people that have done the same mod & exhaust on the same car and been charged nothing so i'm not sure if it's postcode or age dependent or something? They're generally better than most companies when it comes to mods.

I'm 23 with 1yrs NCB and pay just over £1k fully comp, Sheffield postcode, 2004 Civic Type R.

Thanks Tim - sounds like they could be a good one to go for. I've only heard one negative comment so far, so looks like i'll be signing up. Have requested a callback from Adrian Flux as well, just for comparison.

Done a bit of research Feenster, apparently you're only charged for mods mid-policy. So if you declare everything in your quote it shouldn't cost a penny

(unless its a supercharger or something)

Humm, that's interesting. I suppose you could look at it as they just increase the premium accordingly before signing you up.

Well, I read lots of positive comments about Noel Dazely, and only 2 negatives, so have signed up. Will be a change from Direct Line, being able to phone them up at all hours. Can't refuse a £140 saving though. The policy appears to be with Highway Insurance Ltd.

Interestingly, Adrian Flux beat the quote by £20, but had double the excess with the same underwriter I think.

I tried Greenlight and they weren't competitive unfortunately. All settled with Noel Dazely now though. Fingers crossed for a smooth ride :)
