Nofan CR-80EH

I haven't used one but know the CR-90 is not any better if as good as a big air cooler with no fans in a tower case .. and case still needs fans moving air through it unless you have something like Silverstone Fortress FT05 with with bottom to top airflow and motherboard rotated 90 degrees. Even then it's 2 big 180mm fans will run when system is working hard.

Nofan coolers only have heatpipe on bottom with a circle of copper wires soldered to it. If you use an air cooler like Ereboss or Thermalright Macho with a fan running even at 300rpm you will have better cooler with a noise level too low to hear. Thermalright Macho 0 and others the same size have an accessory shroud that can be used between back of cooler and back of case, so a fan on cooler can fllow air out of case instead of needing an intake .. assuming no GPU added in PCIe sockets.

It's very hard to build a computer without fans to create airflow through the case, so why not have another slow spinning one on CPU cooler?

I understand that logic. Problem is that mass / weight is the heatpipes and fins that are transferring the heat from CPU to air. While Nofan's little copper wires from single circular heatpipe look fancy they simply are not as capable a cooler HR-02 is with 6x 'U' shaped heatpipes pumping heat out to itheir 12 ends into 32 fins. HR-02 is 876g so it is indeed quite heavy. Maybe something like new Macho Direct? It has 5x heatpipes and 38 fin weighting 650g. Maybe something even smaller would do the job, like Macho 120 SBM with 5x heatpipes and 31 fins weighting 560?
What case are you using?
Is case using fans?

Either way, I considers the NoFan coolers more a gimmick than real coolers.

Yeah , i don't like that single pipe at the bottom and it's a silly shape.

Not sure on the case yet or if it's staying open bench , i've been running fanless for years but i just don't like how thin the new coffeelake CPU's are and modern Motherboards don't feel as thick as they used to be unless it's just my imagination , i remember a time when Gigabyte Ultra Durable boards felt hefty but maybe that was the heatsinks on the board.

I have 1 open bench stand and several others in tower cases. Thinking of building a shelf HTPC system. My open bench was made using pieces from an old aluminum Lian Li case for PCie and motherboard panels and a small 3 sided box below for PSU and other things. It's my test station. There are several good low speed fans out there that idle down to like 300rpm making them silent unless ear is in danger of getting hit by their fan blades. :D Be quiet! Silent Wings 3 but they are very expensive. I have a bunch of Thermalright TY-147A (300--1300rpm) and TY-143 (500-2500rpm) that I never use above about 1000-1100rpm and that is at 100% load rendering sessions. At 1050rpm they are just loud enough to hear at about 4 feet in quiet (32dBA) room. In a case I have to be less than 2 yards away to hear them. I have a lot of different coolers from testing, so if you have questions about particular coolers I might have some answers.

I've not had any fans for years , Seasonic fanless PSU and Kalmx Passive Graphics cards.

I just wondered if there where any lightweight passive coolers about in the 65w range rather than the 100w of the HR-02 , i know i can use off the shelf coolers and underclock but i'm not in the mood to experiment.
