Well, this year i'll be journeying to New Zealand twice, in summer and at christmas time and thought I ought to take a look at some decent headphones for the flight!
I've currently got some Sennheiser PMX60's but the sound leakage is terrible and I thought those sitting near me on the plane wouldn't be impressed.
I've got about £150 to spend tops, any recommendations? I'm not particularly keen on in-earphones as they usually fall out or hurt my ear. I'm fairly impressed by the Sennheiser PXC300's. Any comments about those headphones, or other recommendations?

Thanks

have you tried proper canal phones out of interest, rather than the type that sit on the outside of your ear? I have the same problem as you for "typical" in ear headphones that sit on the lobe, in that they hurt or fall out, but canal phones are a completely different kettle of fish, and also offer great isolation like you require. For £150 you could get some Etymotic er-4p's too, which are fantastic.

Cheers, i'll take a look. I tried some really nice Shure headphones when I went to the Best of Stuff show in London, they were decent in-earphones, inquired about the price - £360!

They were alright, a little uncomfortable though, which isn't really acceptable for a long flight.

you have to get used to them / play with the different foam inserts etc, there is a high chance the ones you had on werent the best fit for your ear :)

I fly two and from NZ a few times a year and usea pair of Sony canal phones, they do a great job of cutting out the plane noise, I leave them in even when I'm not listening to music :D

Well, after looking around at canal in-earphones it occured to me I will in fact go for those, I managed to find 2 of the ones I wanted on that well known auction site for under £150.

Now it's case of deciding between the 'Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro' and 'Shure E4C Sound Isolating Earphones - White'

Ultimate Ears ones are somewhat cheaper, anyone had any experience with these?
