I'm going to buy one of these cards this week but can't make up my mind which. Looking at Asus specifically because they have the quietest and best performing coolers around.

I know the 7950 will perform better, especially after overclocking but i'm also under the impressions that the 660ti will be sufficient for 1080p gaming and will be a bit quieter. If I overclock, will this raise temperatures enough to make the fan spin louder?

Also the 7950 is a 3 slot cooler, whereas the 660ti is a 2 slot, which means if I ever go crossfire in the future the top 7950 might have limited airflow and run hotter (less overclocking ability?) whereas the 660ti in SLI will have a gap between the two cards.

I hope i'm making sense, and sorry for making another one of these threads but the focus isn't just performance. Noise is a pretty big priority.

Looking to play pretty new and demanding games, like Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Hitman Absolution, Far Cry 3, Max Payne 3, etc.

I heard that the gigabyte has some sort of dust removal technology that spins up the fans full blast when you turn on the computer. not sure I could live with that every day to be honest.

Have a look around to see if you NEED to use GPUTweak with those cards (I think it's only the Matrix Platinum though), because if you do, i suggest looking elsewhere.

You can probably increase the clocks on the 7950 to 1050-1100mhz without adding voltage. At this speeds it will comfortably outperform the 660 without being any noisier than stock I would say. Its the voltage increase that adds heat and noise, but this cooler is the quietest out there.
