Noise when in games from a 4850

Dont want to be messing around with soldering or hot glue so think im going to RMA it and see if i have any mor eluck with a different one, cheers guys :)

Just got the report back saying that there is nothing wrong with the card, so am going to be charged nearly £20 for nothing, plus the £6 it cost me to send the card back :(

Is my only option now to look into a new PSU? The cheapest OcUK do is about £30 which seems a little steep, what kinda of PSU am i looking at?

Cheers,
Gaz.

I'd ask if the charge could be waived should you buy a new PSU off them, if not, look elsewhere for one.

Just sent another webnote that isnt going to be replied too until tomorrow so it looks like im going to end up going about 2 weeks unable to do anything on my computer apart from the browsing, and spending a total of about £150 on something i originally saved £20 and was only costing me £70...oh joy

How old was the card when you sent it back?

You can demand a refund for the card if it was less than 7 working days old (under the distance selling regulations) since you weren't happy with it. Choke noise is not a fault, so they are correct that there is nothing wrong with the card, but if the noise annoys you then you are entitled to a refund (you actually need no reason at all for a refund under the DSR).

PS. do not buy a new PSU, if the card was running fine with the one you have then you'd just be wasting money on something that won't fix the noise anyway.

Was 2 days old, went straight in, asked advice and it went straight back.

I have had to pay £6 to send it pack, and now owe £10 + postage + VAT to have it sent back to me, but have had conflicting emails saying its already been sent back though i havent paid any testing fees so awaiting a reply on that, have asked what the chances of a refund were though as i seriously cant put up with the noise that it was causing

Aye the problem was doing an RMA, as that's only for faulty items, should have just returned it under DSR i'm afraid.

Still i would expect OcUK to give a full refund unless they decide to be really tight and break DSR regulations. Not sure if they will refund the £10 'testing fee' though, but i would ask for that as well. You definitely won't get your postage back though for obvious reasons.

They replied back after the time that states they are closed and have said they are sending it back to me with no testing fees or anything, which i thought was very good of them.

Looks like im going to be getting a new PSU then and hoping that at least quietens it down to a point where i cannot hear it anywhere near as much
