Noisy 2060FE fan issue. Anyone else?

I bought a 2060FE from NVidia 2 months ago to the day. It has developed this weird noise on the fan furthest from the back plate. I wasn't sure what was making the noise so I ripped the system apart and just put in the GPU to start with an it was immediately apparent it was at fault for the noise.

The noise is like an annoying whirring noise, not like regular fan spinning noise and not like coil whine (at least from what I can gather). The fans don't go below 32% but if you physically stop the fan the difference is instantaneous and very pronounced. Stop the other fan and there is zero change in the noise being made. Anyone else experienced this, or anything similar?

I used the NVidia online chat support thingy tool and they asked the usual questions, yes I had tried everything under the sun, yes I did think I was going bonkers initially, and yes whilst it's fine when gaming it's irritating as heck when just using windows and I use my PC a LOT (i.e. no life).

They seemed pretty fine to accept the fan might well be faulty, gave them my details and copy of the invoice and a photo of the box/serial number. They said they will get back to me regarding a replacement. All seems a little bit too easy, I'm waiting for the "Er tough luck mate, its just fan noise" email.

I shall update with how it goes but was curious if anyone else has experienced this, or anything similar and if so what was the outcome?

Cheers

Got an email confirming RMA, has to be sent to Amsterdam for replacement. Postage paid both ways by NVidia. So far so good then.

Although the week without a PC is going to be a NIGHTMARE :( Really wishing I hadn't punted my 970 now.

Always worth keeping an old graphics card just in case.

Never had to use it yet (touch wood), I have my old GTX 460 for this purpose.

Glad you got your issue sorted.

Hopefully a quick turn around.

I got myself a little AMD 4670 years ago as a backup, and I still use it to this day as a backup. Always worth have a little one about just in case, even so you can at least do the basics.

Well I sold my 970 as my backup was that my CPU had an integrated GPU, so worst case scenario I can at least do the basics.

Of course then my motherboard dies and decide to go AMD with the idea of getting a Ryzen 3000 chip later in the year. Then Ive got to return my 2060, CPU doesnt have iGPU and tada its mobile phone internet time. Haha.

I also just sold an old 7850 for buttons which I had just found lurking in a pile of crap in a cupboard. Sods law!

Luckily a mate has an old 7870 kicking about I can borrow at the weekend so should tide me over.
