Noisy Front Panel

Hi, I am having some trouble with the front panel audio, whenever headphones or speakers are connected to it there is static/buzzing noise. When headphones or speakers are connected directly into the sound card the is no problem. That leads me to believe it must be some sort of interference, are there any shielded front panel audio cables I could buy? or maybe something else i could try?

Thanks :)

Definitely unshielded cables there, you could try a ferrite ring as that usually works... you basically wrap the wires around the ring and that should alleviate the interference.

I had this.

The front panel metal was connected to the chassis of my case (Lian-Li PC7+), causing a ground loop since the front panel is also earthed via the cable to the soundcard.

I isolated the front panel from the case and the noise went away entirely.

This worked for me also, albeit my case is an antec 902. Earthing cable from front panel was screwed into the top underside of case & disconnecting it almost eliminated the interference.

Tho it wasn't until I rebuilt my pc (asus m4a 79xtd evo mobo) that I had this prob. Didn't seem to have this prob (or at least it wasn't noticeable ) with my old msi kn9 sli mobo setup.
