The PSU in question: http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gx-series/gx-550w/ (Purchased Jan 2011, so 7 months of the 5 year warranty remaining.)
The fan is rattling quite severely, it's intermittent in nature though, only occurs after the PC has been on a few minutes. When it does start it's loud, but it comes and goes.
If I go the warranty option how thoroughly are they likely to test it? Be frustrating if they start it for a minute and declare it's fine. The alternative is replacing the fan but that means removing the PSU from the case anyway, so might as well RMA, plus if I open it I lose the remaining warranty.
PS I confirmed the fan was at fault by using a plastic nib to stop it, so it's not vibration in the case.
