Got my replacement GeIL 2GB PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel RAM and this time it got through 1 pass of memtest but in windows fails orthos/prime very quickly and while under load makes a high pitched screeching sound. It’s running at its rated 800MHz 4-4-4-12 2.1v, tried SPD of 5-5-5-18 at up to 2.3v.

Currently using some unbranded 1GB 533MHz and that’s doing fine, just need the speeeeeeed of the Geil back! :)

This surely can’t be a faulty replacement streight out of the box? Any ideas?

Thanks

An update, memtest has deemed it faulty fresh out of the box with over 7000 errors in under 15 mins! Can't get it to pass and don't dare boot in to windows to try orthos now so won't hear the odd noises again.

RMA time :(
