Nokia 5110/NK402 (circa 1998) Does anyone know what the release price was?

As title really, its a long shot but I wonder if anyone can remember how much one would have set you back all those years ago if you bought it outright?

Dad has had one since release, and still uses it, but he can't remember how much he paid, so this thread is just me being curious really :)

Can't seem to find it online.

I'm not sure you would have been able to buy one outright on release because PAYG didn't exist. I remember people having these (in fact, I still have one:o) when I had my Nortel and PAYG didn't come out for a while after. I remember buying a Philips orange PAYG phone for £30 new because I was spending a lot of money to call people on Orange and I think the Nokia was £80 also on Orange PAYG then but that would be about 1999/2000.

even when PAYG did exist, the choice of phones was quite limited and it was very expensive to start with. I think some were £1/min or you could pay, I think, £1 per day to have your calls at about 35p/min. I can't remember exactly. what I'm getting at is, you couldn't just have any phone on PAYG

Ah thanks mame, I didn't realise that :)
I guess that makes this question somewhat un-answerable then, so never mind :p
