Nokia 8600 Luna Problem

I picked up a Nokia 8600 Luna yesterday but am having an issue. The phone was said to be unlocked for most networks which seems to be the case as when I pop my sim card in it detects the v/phone network ok. It also finds the numbers i have stored on the card also without a problem.

But.....When I try to make a call either from the sim card list or by direct number entry after a few seconds I get the reply "Call Rejected".

Im not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to phones so any help would be appreciated.

Nice phone but seems pointless if i cant make a call. Have tried to get people to call me but they just get a message saying Network Failure.

Can you send a text message ok? Was the handset brand new? It could be IMEI barred.

Text works fine. One sent & had a reply straight back.

Phone was not new.

It sounds like its IMEI barred (blocked on all UK networks). which means its been reported stolen or an insurance claim has been made against it.

If it says that its likely the IMEI is barred. I've seen it on Vodafone before. Never tried sending a text message though....

A common scam is people trade in/sell handsets then report them a week later when the money has cleared....

take it back and if you have any trouble tell them they're selling stolen goods. thats barred, I'd bet my life on it.
