Anyone using this?

Is there an always on data connection with this? Does it drain the battery a lot more?

I know that the blackberry service works through the operator but how exactly does it work if there isn't an always on data connection?

Yup, it's always on.

I use it with my GMail account and it rocks. The battery life hit doesn't seem to be very significant. I'd definitely use it on any E-series device since they tend to have decent batteries in them anyway.

It's always on, an almost instantaneous push. The incremental battery use is not noticeable. I use it with Gmail and it works very well.
