Well my phone has GPRS, and i want to use my tomtom PLUS for traffic updates via my phone.

For some reason i cant get it set up, so i looked on o2.co.uk to find out if i can enable it, and there are no N series phones that you can get GPRS

does that mean O2 have disabled it for these phones? can i get around it? any ideas?

I'd call the o2 customer services and they'll probably send you the settings via text.

hi (forgot to reply to this thread)

yeah i did that, they sent me settings which I saved

now i found out that over on the pocket GPS site theres a guy that replied to me and said he had trouble as well, so he went to orange, but that isnt an option for me :(

ive contacted O2 again and im asking them why it aint working, what settings its using etc

cheers

You will need mobile web settings not GPRS ones. Normal GPRS settings won't let you get access to the internet, just WAP. Which is the root of your porblem. Trying to explain this to CS is fun. Just tell them you want to use your phone to check e-mail/internet and that should spurr them into action.

Have a look on your GPRS settings and see what APN you have set up. Otherwise it may be that TomTom is using the wrong set of settings. You need to make sure it uses O2 MobileWeb, and not O2 GPRS. Thats the only other thing I can think of.

a little confused

I have a gprs one, it is called O2 WAP GPRS
the APN on it is wap.o2.co.uk

my otherone is "O2 Mobile Web" and the APN is "mobile.o2.co.uk"

how do i tell tomtom to select one, maybe its using the wrong one?

mobile.o2.co.uk is the one that will give you mobile web access. As to how to get tomtom to use it, I know on series40 phones, under settings -> configuration you can choose which settings for applications to use. Its kind of confusing to explain, and even more so to do. I'd try googling it and see if you can find a step by step guide. But it does sound like your problem.

FIXED :D

For anybody that wants to know...

I tried connecting my phone to the WEB and it didnt work, so i set my phone up to that, so i can use my handset to conect to the internet on my phone.

once that was set up, i tried my tomtom and worked straight away
