I just spoke to a guy at vodafone direct and he informed me the release date they have got down for their network is April 20th and as vodafone have a 2/3 month exclusive on there network looks like il be jumping from orange to them, all my mins are going on evening calls where "stop the clock" should cover this lol

128mb mini sd i think, though il need to get a 1gb one at least as il be running tom tom off it! hopefully il be able to use gps unit and blue tooth with out the phone like i get on the 6630!

Ah good news, looks one of the best phones out soon, looks like I'll be jumping back to vodafone from o2 :)

Pretty glad too as I've not been impressed with o2's service this year.

Bah Humbug - I really hope Vodafone dont get this as an exclusive - hate their crap Vodafone Live software - its even worse than the Orange stuff...

I presume its unlikely to pickup a non-branded n80 if it becomes a Voda exclusive :(...

ps3ud0

I guess - kinda been waiting since August for this beast  - better be worth it, P990i will be due out then too...

Wonder if T-mobile will get it - been bringing out some cracking tariffs lately...

Yep, I want that phone on a nice flext plan with 20% discount online!

Can't believe you have to wait 2 extra months just because it's not on vodafone. What is this dodgy vodafone live software then, can't you just flash it with the lates nokia firmware (and hense delete any voda software)?

Vodaphone aren't getting it in april as an exclusive....

Launch is expected across the board around that time.

It's amazing what sales people will try and tell you if they think it'll help their commision.

Any info to confirm if the N80 is using the 2420 chip, instead of the N70's 1710?

Read this from The Inquirer or the Reghister, can't remember now...

Texas Instrument describes the 2420 as a "smartphone on a chip"

The 2420 has a five-fold performance increase over the OMAP1710 used in today's high end smartphones, and around a 100 fold increase in floating point operations.

Sony Ericsson's P990 smartphone, and Nokia's N series and E series are the first devices to feature the 2420 and EKA2, and both have chosen to increase the feature set rather than slash the BoM cost. In almost all of these devices, the manufacturer has opted for a higher density screen and Wi-Fi.

What this means is a faster processor which can hadle 100 fold increase in floating points, one powerfull processor and not two saving Nokia money which is invested into high res screens and Wi-Fi such as the N80, the roumar about the 330mhz processor i believe is true.

Key Features:
Dedicated 2D/3D graphics accelerator at 2 million polygons per second
Added imaging and video accelerator enables high-resolution still image capture, larger screen sizes and higher video frame rates
Supports high-end features including 4+ megapixel cameras, VGA-quality video, high-end interactive gaming functionality and analog/digital TV video output
5-Mb internal SRAM boosts streaming media performance
Software compatibility with previous OMAP™ processors
Parallel processing ensures no interruptions or degradation of service with simultaneously running applications
Optimized power management companion chip, TWL92230
12 mm x 12 mm, 325-ball MicroStar BGA™, 0.5-mm pitch

Very exited about this phone, because I wouldn't mind getting an 18 month contract with it. It would not go out of date quickly I feel, seems to have have pretty much every feature and is bleeding edge tech by todays standard.

I can't confirm it 100%, but using a single core chip wasn't possible on the N70 but is possible on the N80. From what I've seen, the N80 does contain a faster chip than the N70.

Not everyone wants a tiddly little girlie phone :D

Personally , I don't mind how big a phone is as long as it does what it says on the tin ;) Weapon of choice at the moment is a P910i soon to be followed by a P990 hopefully .

Was considering the N80 but will wait to see how it performs and get the first lot of firmware updates out of the way :p

This Nokia is not too big in my opinion, especially considering the massive specification:

its not a bar fone tho, i prefer having the keypad there in front of you, instead of having to flip or slide something. ive got a 6680 at the moment, excellent fone!!! but its just too big :(

Nice phone, was thinking of buying it sim free but prices are around £600:eek: offline that is though.

Only question i have is...is it a full 3g phone..some places saying it is and some saying it isnt. Im sure thats a front facing camera on the front of the phone if im not mistaken that is.

I wouldn't trust any retailers when it comes to prices. Nokia haven't announced a price for the phone yet.

It's got a front-facing camera and it is fully 3G. :)

Great, been waiting for this to come along. Will be swapping my old mans phone when it's released and he can keep his old POS as he doens't like change :p

Reckon I'll give my N70 to my mate then :)
