Woke up this morning and it appears my N95 is showing nothing but a black screen. Turn the phone on and get the vibration and backing lights on the buttons but the screen isn’t showing at all.

Anyone have any advice or is it another call to Orange for a replacement?

Well, my wife's Samsung D600 experienced a similar failure. Turned out to be the ribbon cable to the lcd was chewed up by the slider mechanism. New one obtained of fleabay for a couple of quid and fitted it myself.

I shall never buy a slider as a result - too many moving parts to go wrong....

It's not really possible to fix it yourself, you need to speak to Orange for them to arrange to fix it via. a Nokia Care Point.
Dude, relax - it's a Sunday, and besides, a quick Google Search could have helped you ;)

What do you mean not possible to fix yourself!!? With a torx screwdriver 90% of phones are part for part swappable. All parts can be obtained one way or another. If you can figure out whats broke fixing (well replacing) takes less than an hour. Rather than pay to phone orange, be put on hold or speak to India, and then wait 14 "working days" or 3 months to get your phone back (and its usually all wiped of address book info etc...) unless you're saving a tonne of money i can never see the point!

Yes but most of the problems with his specific issue aren't really meant to be fixed by yourself.
Besides, I'd rather have a paid technician fix my phone under warranty than void it :) And you don't need to speak to India with Nokia + Orange.
