Yo yo yo,

I was just interested to see how many/if any at all non-AMD and Intel CPU's there are out there. I haven't seen one myself tbh, and just wondering what kind of speeds they would be capable of and what motherboard manufacturers actually produce motherboards for these CPU sockets!

Shoot us your non-AMD/Intel CPU's that you've seen :D

Outside of VIA theres very little that can do x86.

There are/were various other CPUs based on other instruction sets made by ARM, Cyrix, IBM, Sun, etc. (EDIT: Seen various ARM, Motorola and IBM, etc. CPUs myself).

As above, Intel and AMD are the only players really in the desktop (and most laptops) market with regards to CPUs. Of course, the mobile market is where this is different as there are several players, ARM being the major one as a lot of mobile CPUs are based on ARM instruction sets (Qualcomm, and by extension, Snapdragon).

There is talk, however, that Intel wants to break into the mobile processor market with their Broadwell architecture (coming 2014) as they are rumoured to have 4.5W CPUs planned - which would be perfect for tablets.
