Non-clicking thermostats

Short of replacing it with a Nest or Hive (overkill potentially) - is there a 3 wire room thermostat in existence that doesn't click on or off? Surely there is the tech out there these days to use a silent relay or similar. Now we actually use our room stat, the click is waking me up every morning when the heating comes on. (First world problems etc)

Is the click actually from the 'stat rather than the boiler gas valve or something?

Even the old mechanical stats had a click that was barely audible unless you stand next to it.

Is it in the bedroom?

My boiler ticks like mad when it comes on.

Yeah, it's definitely the stat relay that's clicking. It's in the bedroom.

Replace the relay if you have some soldering facility at home?

Use a radio connected thermostat. The relay that clicks is near the boiler. The local thermostat is solid state.

Yep, something like the Honeywell CM927.

Try and source an old Honeywell roomstat, they had mercury in a glass bubble that was silent.

I reality just get a cheap rf roomstat, the stat itself is silent and the switching relay noise is over at the receiver box mounted at the boiler or wiring center.

My stat is cordless and doesn't click. It sends the signal to a box next to boiler where the click takes place.

Although my stat is downstairs and the boiler is upstairs so I still hear it if in bed. Doh!

Looking at the cost of wireless stats, that seems logical. I think I'll just live with the clicking for now! I thought there might be a cheaper solution.

Hive was cheaper than a wireless Honeywell when we upgraded.

If the tick is 'waking you up' I suspect in reality you are already awake do you wake up every time a car goes past?

I have a PlumbCenter EHE0200361 (http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/product/center-radio-frequency-programmable-room-thermostat/) which was recommended by someone on here. It's a rebadged Honeywell at half the price and works great. New customers get 20% off if you sign up so that makes it £40.80

The manual is a direct copy of the Honeywell one, just with the Honeywell logo removed from the diagrams
