Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor to 1440p, but i was tempted to try out HDR while i was at it. From my understanding anything below HDR600 isn't worth it.

So my question is are there any monitors that have the following specs.

1440p
High refresh rate (120HZ minimum)
Good/decent colour accuracy (Need it for 3D modelling)
Must not have curve. (The distortion will affect my 3D modelling)
HDR600

I was initially eyeing up the nano IPS monitors with the LG panel but obviously they are not HDR 600 compliant due to being IPS. If i can't find anything with a reasonable price with above specs, I will just go back to the nano IPS monitors (unless anyone has a better suggestion)

Thanks

That's a tough one, there isn't much, the problem you will have here is that combination of specs and really for HDR, I would go as far as saying HDR 600 isn't upto much either, it gives you a 'taste' perhaps but as far as I am concerned after having experienced it, the only way to do it is with full array local dimming (so this would meet the HDR 1000 specification) or OLED and even then you need enough local dimming zones or it can look ...strange. It's not really a thing south of £1k

The only monitors I can think of right now that really meet or exceed these specifications are some of the Asus ProArt range such as this but this is a £1500-£1600 monitor, there is also a just about to be rerleased model from Asus in the ROG range that is mini LED and it's apparently $3k that would do it, these are both 4K though, hardly much point in doing it with less.

Looking at your original requirement though rather than 'mine' there is one I can think of which is 1440P, high refresh, flat, colour accurate and HDR 600 and that's the msi Creator-PS321QR so another professional creator aimed monitor. These go around the £800 though so not nearly so expensive as the mini LED HDR 1000 options.

I use an LG Nano IPS personally, but I am not a content creator really, more of a consumer and I do IT work on it so totally different use case. I am into photography as a hobby and this is good enough for me to that end, but if I was making money from it and having to colour grade etc then I would want something more suitable and under those circumstances I would be looking very closely at the ProArt and Creator ranges and similar offerings from BenQ etc.
