Just to update this...

I’ve now settled through the 3rd Party insurance. Car is a total loss (Cat S) and they’ve made me a fair offer which is slightly more than all the online car valuation sites have quoted.

They said they were able to make a high offer because the salvage is high value.

Might add a few grand on top and look for a 440i (my car was an F30 330d).

I did similar. I had a 420iGC test drove both a 440i GC and an M140i and ended up going for the M140i! It was cheaper, quicker and more fun to drive!
