Hi.

Trying to figure out the chances of not having a 1070 by the 25th of June as I need one for a get together and will need to sell my 970 before then.

What does anyone reckon?

I'm only interested n the cheap and cheerful ones.

Thanks.

I'm hoping EVGA learn from the 1080 delays and get 1070s out a bit earlier... Buuut don't hold your breath.

I'd expect the first batch around the 28th, if the 1080 is anything to go by.

Will the non fe 1070s be available to pre order on the 10th as well?

Got a stack of games I'm itching to play that my current 2gb card can't handle

If the 1080 fiasco is anything to go by I think they'll probably be limited.

It depends. If they just artifically staggered the release, availability for the 1070 might be much better from the off.

I guess we will find out Friday!

Don't think the problem is EVGA and more nVidia.

i bet they deliberately released the 1080 1st so they can make more money from the 1080 release so the cheaper one comes second, hype makes you by the 1080 even though people wanted the 1070

Who knows, we don't.
It seems they have limited capacity and it was deemed better to get a new card out first that blows away the last generation than one that merely matches it. Or get both out where two sets of customer types will potentially be left waiting a very long time to get their cards.

Lets be honest here. The reason you are waiting so long and stock is scarce is because Nvidia wanted to jump the gun on AMD to release the next gen cards. Knowing full well that they had a limited supply of GDDR5X to go with the 1080.

However, this shouldn't be a problem with the 1070 as it uses GDDR5 which is in plentyfull supply. Nvidia are being quite clever here because if there are lots of 1070s in stock then they have the people who want to upgrade from 970 and also impatient people who are waiting for 1080's may also go for one as an interim purchase.

Even cleverer is that Nvidia are now commanding low high-end card prices for what will become a high-end mid-range card. Which currently stands at a difference of £150 between 970 and a 1070.
;)

Thanks.

I'm thinking of skipping now as I still have gta v and witcher 3 at minimum to start alongside my regulars so my 970 should be fine for these at. 1080p

Will upgrade if something essential warrants it.

The xx80 and xx70 have always been call high end by Nivida, what has changed a bit is the price.

The ti, Titans and dual GPU cards are what they call enthusiast cards. :P

In the 1080 thread, Ben from EVGA said stocks of 1070 would suffer the same shortages and delays as 1080s. Sounds more like a yield problem.
