Hi,

I'm after a PCI-E graphics card for my new Dell 5150.
I wn't be playing any games on this box, this is purely for dual monitor purposes in Photoshop, Video editing and Music apps (Pro Tools).

The two monitors I'll be using are both Dell, a 20" widescreen (2005FPW) and a 17" 4:3 screen.

Could anyone suggest? many thanks

thanx
I didn't think I would need all the power of a good gaming card.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was thinking of paying less, as 'Trojan' recommended, for something that would more than cope with my apps, thanks.

One thing I would be doing is rotating the screen 90 degrees for portrait mode, so hopefully the drivers would have good support for this when using in conjunction with dual monitors

XFX GeForce 7600 GS 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT73P-UDL3) (GX-080-XF) - £88

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GS SILENT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-082-LT) - £88

Both the same price hehe. Shall I flip a coin?

thanks for the all so many replies, and the heated debate :D

The 5150 has the Pentium D dual core 2.8, so that would help a lot with the encoding speeds.

Yeah I heard too that some larger cards won't physically fit in the 5150.

I don't want to be busting the £100 point either.

Dual DVI isn't actually a necessity. as long as it has 2 heads with at least 1 being DVI would be sufficient, as the 2nd monitor (17") will only be used for tools pallettes etc.

So by that, you're saying that I could get pretty much any cheapo card and it won't affect what I want to use it for?
