Hi All

Back before MS announced the warranty extension I had my 360 3rd party repaired. Its now given up the ghost again and I have had it sent back from the guy who originally repaired it saying he tried everything and it just wont work anymore. My question is, what options do I have now? MS will turn me away as its been opened, but Id love to try argue that they wanted £100 for a repair when I got it done for £25 and since then they have admitted its a design flaw by extending the warranty (youve guessed right that its 3RLOD as I know this is what the extended warranty pertains to) but I dont think I would get very far with that arguement. Anyone heard any storys about MS giving in in a situation like this?

Only other option would be accidental damage insurance claim probably? or of course fork out for a new one which I cant do as Im strapped for cash like you couldnt believe. Anyway ideas are welcome :)

Problem is, Microsoft may have charged you £100, but it would have continued to work, or had it not you'd have had an extended 12 month period (before the extension of 2 years). You would also have been refunded £100.

Anyway, it was £80 for repairs wasn't it? Not £100.

Im sure i was given a figure of £99 or there abouts, it was some time ago. The fact is tho, we didnt know MS were going to give back the £100 as they hadnt admitted the fault at that point, sure you got the extended warranty, but I also got that for 6 months from 3rd party.

I'd be tempted just to send it to Microsoft and see what happens. What can you lose, its not working at the moment anyway. The worst they can say is that they wont repair it. If they ask why its been opened just feign ignorance.

I've heard reports of people sending back opened 360s and them not noticing/caring, and I've also heard reports of people receiving refurbs which didn't have the warranty sticker at all, so if I were you, just send it back to MS anyway.

What if the repair was intrusive, such as cutting bigger holes for bolts into the heatsink etc? Surely MS would notice something like that. Sure they will most likely replace the motherboard but they would cotton on if they opened it and saw something like that. Im not one to lie as it tends to bite you in the ass.

Doesn't make any difference if it's not working though does it :).

Try and send it back, Microsoft are known for accepting voided and even tampered consoles, considering you have 3rlod I think you've a good chance. Infact my friend sprayed his whole case, modded lights etc, they even sent his case back with it fixed.

I wouldn't claim off your insurance if that's what your asking, you'll pay it back (and more) over time since your premiums will raise.

Well thanks everyone. It sounds promising from what your all saying. I guess if I send it back and they dont repair it I havent lost anything! Worth a try :) Thanks again.
