Non ref 6950 that can unlock?

are there any non ref, ie quiet 6950s that an unlock to a 6970?

MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III can be unlocked according to TPU.

MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II may be unlocked according to a user from Taiwan claiming that he modded the BIOS himself and succeeded. TPU failed to unlock this one.

i think the powercolor pcs+ comes with the unlocked bios allready installed

Somebody here tried and failed flashing their Frozr II, the card spun up, but he had no display. Iirc he couldn't get his old 4870x2 into the 1st pci-e to flash it back as it was too big. Don't know what happened in the end.

No doubt it's possible but it's no longer fool proof Without the default safety BIOS switch, trying to flash a non reference 6950 card would be like walking a tight rope for the inexperienced.

I knew i ordered the wrong one lol, my asus 6950 was noisy as hell under load and that was at stock
