Just received, Gun, TRL and Farcry from playasia and all for £65 :D I was so impressed with the speed of delivery i went back to order a few more non region protected games, seems like people have cottoned on though as they are all sold out now :( .. I read an earlier post linking to liksang who do a similar service only trouble is they dont have a format guide like playasia does to help you pick out pal enabled games, would playasia's list be relevent?? eg they list DOA4 as having a U.S, Asian and Jap version but list only the us version as working on PAL, so if I go to liksang and buy the U.S version would I be safe..

DOA4 (US) is compatible on UK 360s according to the list you mention so it doesn't matter where you buy it from. I remember a few people imported the US version earlier in the year but you have to run it at 60Hz I think.

Yeah the US version works, but for other games there are three formats listed: Asian, Jap, and US,, I think that Asian games come in both PAL and NTSC, so if you pick say TRL which I did in Asian format then you get exactly the same game as you would buy in store in U.K, but you got to be carefull cos battlefield is also listed asian but also listed as not working on PAL, lol im confusing myself now  think Ill just wait for playasia to restock, I cant go wrong then, lol

You have to run any version of DoA4 at 60hz.

Ok even more confused now,,

When the region is referred to as Asia what specific region does it mean?? I thought Asia included Japan but I see that G.R.A.W in Asian format will work on our U.K PAL machines, But G.R.A.W in Jap format will not work??

Japan has their own special format :)

I think calling Japan 'asian' is like calling the UK 'European'. Its true, but we don't really belong. All imo of course :)

As far as I'm aware, yes region free and PAL compatible will work no probs on your system - would try it myself but there's not really anything on the list that's in stock that I want...

I think these "Asian" games are classified for the likes of Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China which all use a variant of PAL like us. The Japanese use NTSC-J which is unique to them.

I'm waiting for GRAW to come back in stock.....

its in,, theres about 10 games on playasia that are region free, some have sold out though,, last night they had COD2, Farcry, GRAW, quake 4 and Gun still in stock,, What I love about Playasia is the littel chart which tells you what game plays on what region and also what language its in,, BTW farcry on the 360 is great....

***edit** Sorry just checked its sold out... definately was in stock last night I know cos I was gonna get it for a friend,,

BTW playasia sent me a 5% discount code to give a friend, its not much but save you postage cost,,, let me know who wants it,, :)

and another plus point (as far I'm aware anyway!) is that the documentation, packaging etc. is in English

Yeah TRL is exactly the same as a uk shop version printed PAL, Gun and Farcry are also in full english but American NTSC format :)

I bought a rather chunky hard drive for the 360 from them just a week ago and it was listed as 'Asia' but works fine, and I wasn't done by customs, although a label on the front states that it can be opened for inspection.

I read that when you choose packing options, choose ''packet'' not box and you wont get charged VAT.. not sure how true this is but thats what i did and didnt get charged for my 3 xbox 360 games,, i was gonna buy a DS but didnt want to risk it,, im sure youll be ok with games though,,,

They print the total value on the outside of the package so it is likely to get hit by customs. Wierd thing though.. my last order was 3 Xbox 360 games months ago for ~$120. It arrived with red customs stickers all over it but I didn't pay anything on receipt of it.
