This isn't a major issue but for some stupid reason I decided to update the firmware on one of my old 500GB 7200RPM Barracuda drives. After I used the software, it restarted my PC and then this message came up on boot. All I had to do was press any button and it loaded up windows on my SSD. As I said it's minor but a tad annoying having to see that message and press a key for it to boot up.

I assume that it's primarily trying to boot the affected drive up. I have gone into BIOS and noticed my Agility 3 is the first boot device anyway and this message still comes up. I have also tried using third party software like gparted to correct this - I even put all other drives apart from the Aglity 3 as hidden)

Oh and I don't even think the firmware update did anything.

You should boot up with just the ssd and then boot to windows 7 recovery cd and get to the recovery console and type:rebooting. But might cause problems.

bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /fixmbr

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

This might fix it. I think you can find software that can fix the mbr from windows without booting from recovery cd.

sounds like a reasonable step to take tbh, hope it goes well

Too bad I don't have the recovery CD. :( Thanks anyway

This is why you should always install windows with just one hdd/sdd connected.

Irrelevant, no?

As I said in my first post - this was caused by updating the firmware of one of my HDDs.

Something fishy is going on.

Best way to install Windows is with only the drive you want to install it on connected. Then when it's installed, turn the machine off, connect up the other drive(s) and set your first drive as the boot drive.

This will avoid any problems

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Best way of doing it.

Do you suggest I reinstall Windows, then? I really would rather not and it's not a big deal since all I have to do is press a key every time I boot but can be slightly annoying if I want to restart, go afk and come back.

Or is there an alternative way to fix the MBR etc?
