non working game

I bought Lost Planet from an auctions site in late February and started playing it yesterday. I skimmed through missions 1 to 7 and went to slp. This morning the game didnt boot, giving me a screen '''Please insert this disc in your xbox 360 console'' and I notice that apart from the light scratches which most games have, it has sort of an airbubble (about 1cm from the innermost circle)

Ever since installing the new xbox update, my console has been acting strange, making wierd noises if a disc is already in when its started up

Any ideas please?
