Is the original stand removable? Does this leave any holes/threads/screws you could use in some way?
Friend of mine a few years back needed to mount an early LCD (with a non-standard mount size) to a cheap VESA stand. He ended up cutting a piece of wood to size and drilling holes to match the LCD, and another set to match the stand and used it as a kind of adapter-plate. Might be an option if you have holes to work with but they're just in the wrong place.
