Hi all,

This is probably a very noobish question but hey ho. Im about to build a new PC system and instead of my old Logitech PC speakers wired up to my onboard soundcard id like to hook my PC up to my Panasonic HiFi system instead. My HiFi has 2 different kinds of sockets round the back, 2 aux/phono sockets (left and right) and a 'optical out' socket.

Whats the easiest way I can achieve this and what hardware would I need?

Thanks in advance.

3.5mm from you pc to aux on the hi-fi (the red and white plugs) you can get adapters. Optical out is optical out from the hi-fi so won't help you.

Aha thanks. :)

So if I purchased a soundcard with an optical out socket on it, it wouldnt be as easy as just running a cable between that and the optical out socket on my hifi? Im assuming optical out is better quality.

No, because then you would go from optical out on the PC to optical out on *** hifi, which wont work.

Buy a cable that is a 3.5mm jack (headphone jack) to an aux plug on the hifi.
