noob case fan question

i want to add a rear fan to my case, but i don't have a clue where to put the powerleads through
do i have to cut into the case back panel or what?
anything u can do will be grateful

Nope you just plug the 3 pin header into your motherboard, if you have a spare connector. If not you will need a molex adaptor, or even better if the fan originally comes with a molex power source.

Other than that just screw the fan to your case, with air flow exiting in the 'exhaust' configuration. Simple!

Simple enough

just make sure its blowing the hot air out the back of the case (exaust)

Nothing wrong with it going outside the case? Gives you more room actually around mobo.

Well it would have a fan grill if it was internal or external so i cant see it makes much difference.

internally or externally, its 50/50 just that about 90% of people pop them inside to keep them out the way etc, and if its outsife i recomend getting a fan guard.
