noob DDR2 question

hi all,

im new to all this ddr2 stuff and as my motherboard is not out yet i was wondering as i already have some geil pc 6400 ( 800 mhz ) would it work in a cheapo ddr2 533 motherboard , obviously it wont run at 800 mhz but will it run at 533

also can i run mixed speed ram. i.e i would have the geil 800 mhz in slots 1 and 3 and some samsung 533mhz in 2 and 4

If you run mixed speed RAM you will experience problems. This is because different manufacturer make different RAM, hence each Ram is different.

They might be layed out differently or different timing.

Stick to having Ram made by one manufacturer, its best....
