what's wrong with spending £45 on fans?

Its madness if he has a naturally rubbish case anyways.

You can get a Zalman Z9 for that money that has lots of quiet fans fitted as standard.

Thats why when theres a spec thread with a cheap case but £30 worth of extra fans added, I immediately put them right and suggest a better case.

True it's not going to break the bank plus i like to leave the pc on at night but due to the noise at the mo it's not possible. Cpu is on water so just the case fan and the fans on the rad need changing.

so it's okay to spend £45 on fans, as long as you have a decent case?

A decent case wont need extra fans, it will come with plenty.

Its DUMB to spend £45 on a crap case, or buy a budget case at £30-40 and then add £30 worth of fans to the order, (£30 + £30-40) gets you a better case.

The case is a thermaltake armour lcs so not a bad case. Just gone for 1 of these fans at the mo as the ones on the rad are very quiet. just removed the rear case fan and that seems to be the one that makes the most noise. The side panal has a massive fan built in (optional extra side with the fan) but thats quiet as well.

Yea thoes Apache's are pretty good and if u have a fan controller u could opt for something like the Scythe GT's (AP-15) and have cooling or silence on tap :)

It might be worth just getting a fan controller on the noisy fans or undervolt them by some other means.

I don't find the Apache fans particularly quiet at full whack so you may be dissapointed with a straight swap. Lots of people say they can't hear them though so maybe it's just me being too fussy.

£45 on fans is a bit crazy when you can get three half decent fans from Yate Loon for £9 and three for £6 as Tri-cools, which aren't that bad if you have them on Low. It's really only worth spending more on fans when they need to be on a heatsink where static pressure becomes important.

What is the pc actually doing when u leave it on to go to sleep ? if it's just downloading or something then yea thoes tri-cools on low will be quiet and adequate.
