if this is easy to sort out I'll do it:

Could not connect to work server
Error: Attempt #6 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

If your client has already connected and worked fine first time, its perhaps a fault at the 'other end'

I've had this error as well in the past, and eventually after a few tries it has gone through.

If this is the first time you've set an install up, and the client is trying to get its first work unit, are you behind some sort of restrictive firewall perhaps?

I've been out and come back after a reeboot and there is a thing in my task manager called FahCore_78.exe using 97% of my cpu, does this mean its working?

I expected there to be an icon in my systray or something so I could see what its doing and change the ammount of cpu its allowed to use and stuff...is this not the case?

If its possible to get that option please could someone explain it to me?

Cheers,

G

congratulation you've just set up folding@home as a service :D

no system tray icon, no additional effort - just sit back and let the points roll in.

edit: to change max cpu usage you need a shortcut with a -configonly switch (see sticky) but if it's set to idle than theirs no need to change cpu usage on the fly (especially with 2gb of ram) . But in this weather you might want to set it at 50-70% anyway and up it to 100 when we're back in the 20's - all depends on cooling and room temps.

Start > Run > type services.msc > scrol down and hit "Stop" on the F@H entry.

To make it easier in the future, follow the instructions in the sticky for making batch files to control your installation(s). :)

Download FahMon to monitor your progress easily.

To get to the services, you can also right-click my computer and click manage. You can see the services and applications group at the bottom on the left, click that and then services.
