Ok so training history - previously I have done 16 months solid gym work and was pleased with how it went, I was taking protein supps once a day and cycling creatine.

Then I got lazy and loved up.

It's now time to get back involved with the gym.

I need to lose about a stone of fat, but this will fly off when eating properly and working out. The main aim is to increase strength and muscle mass.

I will be swimming three times a week and doing the 5x5 program as that was working for me before.

So my questions are - which type of protein should I get? Is creatine actually worth it? Are there any other supps that would be worth taking?

Food:
I have not really got any idea about decent eating in the mornings, I am fine with cooking a healthy evening meal, but its the breakfast and lunch I always fail on.

I used to just eat a 2 egg omlette on 1 slice of wholemeal for breakfast and soup for lunch, but it really gets old fast. So considering the milk and cheese intolerance, what other meals can I get in during the mornings?

Any help is MUCH appreciated. Will be creating a progress thread in due course to help me stick to the regime.

Your dairy intolerance makes protein choices a little trickier. Have you tried whey isolate?

Breakfast is easy, have variations on an eggs, bacon, sausages, good bread/bowl of oats kind of theme. Lunch should contain protein too, so things like pita bread packed with meat or salads with lots of meat are good.

What do eat for the rest of the day?

For dinner I am happy with Sweet potato/Spinach/Chicken or Talapia or Rice (100gm)/Chicken or Talapia/Veg with the occasional Curry sneaking in too.

It's not really a dairy intolerance, just cheese and cold milk. Eggs, cream, ice cream are fine.

Take a look at the nutrition sticky at the top of the page if you haven't already. It doesn't look like you're getting anywhere near enough protein in during the day.

Ah, so it's more that you don't like milk? That's not an intolerance :p

In that case, pick up some whey from one of the standard bulk suppliers.
