OK, can any please help me. Been watching and trying to play along to the Lick Library AC/DC 2 dvd. Only been practicing it for over a week and never really played before. So I got the little bits of hard skin forming on my fingertips, which tells me that I'm doing somthing right (Reminds me of the line "I got blisters on my fingers!!!!" :D

On the first track, Sin City I can play the first bit fine, no probs but, going from E5 to B5 is proving to be a bitch!!!! Just can't seem to get there in decent time. I'm trying to be patient and if I'm rubbish I put my guitar (Washburn Wi65 PRO) away and try again the next day. Any tips? Or is it just keep going?

Another question. Is that chord ment to die when you lift your fingers of the fretboard? Is that because all the strings are fretted and there isn't an open string to sustain any sound?

Thanks For Any Help :)

try to play it slower but in rhythm, if you know what I mean. It will suddenly click.

I've found on plenty of occasions that I just hit a brick wall trying to play something, leave it until the next day and it just works effortlessly (love it when that happens)

In Answer to your 2nd question yes it is..

Warm up, I always do. The way I warm up is do 1 2 3 4 on all 6 strings until it's stupidly slow to stupidly fast. Then I do the basic A to G chords.

I just don't feel as fluid jumping straight into a tune without warming up those damned fingers first. Even just go from E5 to B5 slowly then keep going until you get a decent speed. Hope I helped. Don't give up though if you can't do it.

Cheers. Must admit that the other night it was doing my head in and put it away. Next day was a lot better and made me feel good. I know what you mean about playing it slower but in rhythm. That was making me wonder too. Whether to try and get the chords right then the rythem or what??!!

I don't intend giving up LOL, the OH got me this as an early birthday pressie and would kill me if I did :D

I can do the chords easy on there own, but it's just that progression from E5 to B5 thats doing my nut in. Until I nail that I wont get any rhythm will I? Practice makes perfect I suppose. :)

if you can play both chords easy you will be able to progress from one to the other just probably not as fast as you would like. so play it slower, it won't take long before you can play along with the track :)

From what I remember those chords being just have your 4th finger (being your pinky finger) on the 2nd fret. And 2nd and 3rd finger doing the Em shape. You only play the first 3 strings with the E5 and the B5 the last two. Do you know how to read chord boxes yeah?

Edit : If you don't know what I mean I'll re-word it.

Cheers ruffneck. Maybe I am being a tad impatient lol :D

LeJosh, the way I'm playing its like this

E5 Open E and 2nd 3rd finger 2nd fret on D and A
B5 1st finger 2nd fret A, 3rd 4th finger 4th fret G and D

Aye was going to ask what shape, try the 2nd fret on the E (1st string, thinnest.) and open 2nd string, don't play any other string.

If that sounds just as good, you could do that if not then barre the entire 2nd fret except 6th string play chord then place your two fingers on the 4th frets.

If you can't barre then just patience and practice. I think I'm just over complicating it for you though.

Barre Chords!!!! haha my fingers arnt strong enough yet to do that :D And theres always at least 1 duff note cause of the bend between my finger. Looks like patience is going to be a virtue or a pain in the arse :D

Thanks guys if I nail it I'll let you know :)

Edit: Or is Sin City too much for a noob?

Ahh, well just let me know when you get it done! Good luck. :D

It becomes second nature when you play it constantly, first time it's alien but then flows.
