Hey guys,

My Gaming pc is initially turning on and then switching off immediately before the screen even engages. The fans turn on for a second and then shut off with the rest of the pc straight away.:

My set up
Core i5-4670K, Asus Sabertooth Z77, Antec H20 920, EVGA GTX FTW 670, 16GB Patriot Viper DDR3 RAM @1866, 120GB Corsair Force 3 series SSD, Alaska Venom 850w Gold PSU in a Corsair vengeance C70 case.

Help ?

bad overclock, incorrect ram settings.......faulty PSU, Bad BIOS.

if you are not overclocking check in the bios all your settings are correct for ram etc. If you are overclocking thats probably your answer its not stable.

You need rule out hardware problems before moving to fixing possible Windows problems.

Unplug all non-essential drives, including DVD optical drives; sound, network cards. USB Devices and then reset BIOS to default setting.

Remove Graphics Cards if you use a APU Processor.

Your task is to get the system to stable boot.

Hey thanks for the replies I've not begun to overclock yet as i'm still learning about that ! I've unplugged most of the ports on the motherboard but ill try the GPU and the DVD drives and get back to you all thanks !

Its sounds drastic but basically all your doing is removing the variables from the equation. You will most likely find- through a process of elimination it's something like a Boot order problem or a faulty ram module (yes you may need to boot with each rams installed to rule them out as well.

If you still cannot Boot that leaves only the system Hard drive or Motherboard.

Building a stable PC is minefield of problems.

I can also only suggest to strip the board and start it without anything in, no RAM, no CPU no graka no HDD and have a look what the board does and also if the socket is locking good? Isses like that could also be related to a bent pin. If it then jump to the CPU error code put the CPU in, start again and have a look if it pass the CPU code in the error code display on the board. Then put one stick of RAM inside boot again aso...
I would also suggest to contact the support of the manufacturer to get to know if the out of the box BIOS is able to support your component or if maybe a later BIOS is needed, just to make sure the problem is not at this end.

Has no one else noticed that the CPU is LGA 1150 Haswell but his motherboard is Z77 LGA1155 designed for Ivybridge and sandybridge? Are you sure you listed out your specs correctly as this would explain your problems :( you need a Z87 or Z97 board mate but as you fitted the wrong CPU in to the wrong motherboard chances are that both are broken now.
