noob help cooler help please

Hey everyone,

I've decided that i'd like to give silencing my PC a go, i've installed an artic cooler on my graphics card and i've changed the case fans, but i have no idea about the CPU heatsink/cooler, the stock that came with it is pretty noisey so i'd like to change it to something a bit quieter.

I have a socket 478 CPU @2.8ghz It's not overclocked and at this time as i know nothing of overclocking and i have no intentions to overclock.

So i'm looking for something nice and quiet, any reccomendations please?

Scythe ninja highly recomended.

Also consider thermalright xp/si 120

look at artic cooler pro series cant remember the intel version, they are good performers and pretty quiet.

Id recommend an arctic.

The scythe is to big and chunky and more hassle than its worth for a lil CPU like that one

(I dont like my scythe I want my arctic back

I think the Scythe ninja and thermalright xp/si 120 are a bit overkill of what i need, so i guess that leaves the Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 CPU Cooler (Socket 478) (HS-016-AR) - looks kinda nice too

Will i need to get thermal paste or will it come with some? if i need to get some what should i get - i hear lots of talk about artic silver?

it will come with some, but it wont be arctic silver, the difference is only a degree or two though and if you aint overclocking it isn't really worth laying out the extra cash.
