Hi folks. Need some advice.
I have a D-link wireless access point(model no.dwl2k+beu.b1), and a safecom 4 port wired modem/router(model no.samr4114). I'd like to set up the D-link through my router but I'm having problems setting up th IP address's.
The router has an IP 10.0.0.02, and the access point has an IP 192.168.0.50.
My problem: If I leave the router address as it is, I can't connect to the access point, but If I change the router IP to something like 192.168.0.45, I can connect to the access point but I loose my internet connection on my wired network. I'm a bit of a noob to networking and I'm assuming tha I need to change some settings somewhere but not sure what.My wired network has been fine but I let windows automatically set up IP addresses . Any help would be apprecieated.

1. Connect your PC directly to the access point using a patch cable.
2. Manually configure your PC's IP address to 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0
3. Access the AP at http://192.168.0.50
4. Change the IP address of the AP to 10.0.0.200 and apply the settings, at which point you will lose contact with it
5. Change your PC's IP address back to DHCP (the "Obtain automatically..." setting for both IP address and DNS servers)
6. Connect your PC back to the router and do the same with the AP.
7. All should be well and you should be able to get at the router on 10.0.0.2 and the AP on 10.0.0.200

Note: A potential alternative to step 4 is if the AP supports obtaining an IP address via DHCP, in which case you should be able to enable this option and have it retrieve an address from the router. Personally I prefer to have all network hardware such as routers and APs configured with fixed, known addresses and leave DHCP for workstations.
