Hi All,

So my Mum and Dad both have iphones. When I set them up I just used my apple ID/ iTunes account.

They are about also to get iPads as well. And I think it would be easier if they were to have their own accounts/ shared account.

So my question is: How do I go about setting up an account for them without wiping their iPhones of contacts, apps(less important) etc?

Oh, right, I thought that it was more complex than that.

I thought that would cause problems when plugging in to their PC for backups etc? and that their contacts are linked to the account?

Contacts will be probably be linked to the iCloud - Doesn't that mean that they have your contacts on their iPhones?

Unless you've turned Contacts off under iCloud?

It is possible to use different iCloud and Apple IDs. If you have apps that they want to use, and they aren't particularly tech savvy, it may be easier to use your Apple ID and give them their own iCloud account. Depends on how everything is setup really.

This does essentially give them their own Apple ID, but it'll be unused for anything related to any of the stores.

Yep, the only thing that is on in iCloud is find my iphone.

So all I need to do is change the account that they use, and then re-download their apps?

Yep sounds like that should be fine then :) When you make a new account for them, you may as well enable iCloud. That way all their contacts and other stuff are synced for when they get an iPad :)

Also note that in the new iOS update, you get the opportunity to have two accounts on one iPad.
