Hi,

I dont know anything about mountain bikes, although I am not completely mechanically inept as I can do most of the external things on my motorcycle.

So, he has a Calibre Saw Bike as per link:

https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/159041...YHf0x6wrBilh3cn53LAaAijGEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

He wants a new front fork, hes seen this front fork as per link:

https://hollandbikeshop.com/en-gb/b...pension-fork-raidon-xc-27-5-inch-120mm-black/

Will it fit?

Apparently he needs a 27.5 inch one, without a tapered (pole?) at the top. Other than that he isnt 100% sure as he is only 12 and I am 100% honest, I dont trust him to get this right, given his age.

Any help or advice please?

Possibly worth asking in the pedal sub-forum.

I had my old factory spec plastic shocks swapped for oil bath Mazzocci BAM lights back in the day - there's a significant weight difference that alters the balance of the bike (good for up hill but makes it harder for drop offs). Something to check with the forks is the weight for this reason. Also the bike has 100mm travel but the one you've linked to has 120mm travel. To prevent the bike riding nose up.. the length of the shock should match to maintain the geometry of the bike this is why he's stating 27.5" (if that's the same size of the existing shock).

I've not heard about 'steerers' being cone shaped - typically they're straight in all the bikes I've seen. I had the local bike shop do the change.
