Right, looking to build a pc over christmas and a bit after. Don't really have a budget but would prefer it to be under £700ish as a full build but as I'm going to slowly build/buy the parts when I can it's not a massive problem as I have a pc and laptop I can use in the mean time. The computer will be used mostly for gaming, but will need to be able to produce microsoft office documents and internet exploring for college.

I'd Like:
Decent sound quality for use with a headset.
A headset that is fairly cheap but produces good sound quality.
Good GPU as it's going to be used for gaming.

Need advice on parts to use.

I already have a Antec 300 case and a 22" tv with HDMI that I'm told I can use. Is this a good starting point?

Thanks.

Is that the best I can get for that sort of price range then? Havn't really got a huge amount of money right now to be spending on the build and was looking into parts before I buy. Whats the price on those out of the special price if that card is the best option?

thats a great price at the moment, but only lasts till early tomorrow morning, the normal price is around £200

Don't think I can get that money sorted into my bank within the night. Should I stick with that GPU then? Dont mind spending upto 200 as I can probably find it somewhere slightly cheaper than 200.

Dont pay any more for a 5850, but at that price, that model is awesome. If you can't get it, get a 460 instead, or if you are prepared to spend £200 on the GPU (about right for your gaming rig budget I reckon), get a 470 or 6870.

Ok, thanks. Looking at those numbers. Theres different makes but the same model number for some GPU's. What's the deal with that and what's the best to get?

Also, a sata drive will fit any build as that's "todays standard"?

Also read about Xonar DG's, they seem to be a good sound card for the £25 price, do these fit into any motherboard too, presuming all mobos have slots for it?
