I currently have an 4 year old fuji finepix A202 and i have decided its time to upgrade. Im pretty much a point and click sort of guy and with my first kid on the way I want to be sure I can get some decent photos. I have been looking at either the

Canon Digital IXUS 55
or
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9

can anyone offer any better suggestions or advice on my suggestions?
thanks
Scott

i'd say the canon. But only as i've only had experience with Canon compacts. Any of the powershot range from canon seem to be good :)

ixus 55 is pretty good,
pleased with mine but focusing could be more spot on
my konica kd420z was more accurate
also no manual controls but in a compact that's a thing of the past it seems
lumix are nice alround I think for a compact and OIS
havent' played with the ixus 65 yet, although they're in at work now
