noob needs help please

I am building my first system and at the moment i have 2 cables that were atached to my Coolermaster 690 II advanced case they are labled HD Audio with a spur off to a seperate plug AC97 plus the second cable says USb. Sorry to be a bit of a muppet and sound daft but do they go on to the motherboard ( Asus P6x58d-e ) Help please.

Yes there will be a connector for one or the other plus one for usb
Check the manual

Yep, they go to the motherboard, audio is for front panel connection, though you can leave it unplugged and use the audio sockets on the rear of the motherboard. The usb is for the front panel as well, supplements the usb ports on the rear, very handy for devices that you plug/unplug a lot, ie digital cameras, saves you going behind the case to plug/unplug things.
