well trying oc and got 3800x2 am2 upto 2400 what is safe temp 51c at moment but heatings on full blast.also all ive done is upped the fsb to 240 do i need to change anything else rest on auto i think.sorry i am new to ocing.:D

i dont own an amd chip and havnt oc'd a 64bit athlon before my last oc on amd was a 1800+ t'bred and if there anything like they used to be they loved fsbi got mine up to
2.2ghz from 1.6.
i think your best of posting your motherbored specs to give people an idea on what your machine may be capable of.

if i was overclocking it id lower the fsb and up the multi though i dont know how amd chips nowadays respond to these tactics, have a fiddle around but do your calculations first to make sure you know what the outcome of your settings will be.
sorry i cant help more maybe someone else with better experience on these cpu will come along.

I'm going to be attempting this myself soon.

From what I can gather you're on the right track, just don't let the hyper threading get too high (consider lowering the HT multi to 4 or 3, it doesn't affect performance much). Probably a good idea to lock the PCI/PCI-E bus and set the vcore to 1.3-1.4 and go from there.

well had to change it back think my cpu cooler not upto task thermatake m2 only a cheapish one ,better than stock but heats up way to quickly.but think cpu will go to a good 2.6-2.8 easy with right cooling.
glad i done it really was gunna get a 4600 or 5000 to tide me over till newer cpu out and its worth swopping everything being on am2. at 2.4 you couldnt really notice much at all.so id aim for at least 2.6 for any benefit.
