As per sig I have an Asus A8N-SLI mobo (just updated BIOS to latest non beta 1014) and have just taken delivery of an AMD 64 X2 3800+. All the reviews say that this chip easily runs to 2.5/2.6ghz from the stock 2.0ghz with very little temp increase.

Ive never overclocked a CPU before so where do I start? Is it all done from the BIOS or can it be done from windows these days (running dual boot XP and Vista both 32bit). Sorry if this is a common question - if so feel free to send me towards an FAQ etc.

Cheers,
Simon

Overclocking is always best done using the bios. I used to have this setup, and managed to get the chip to 2.5ghz. If I remeber rightly, it was a simple fsb overclock from 200 to 250, with a moderate vcore increase. You may also need to run a divider on your ram, depending on how fast/overclockable it is.

As said above, read the overclocking sticky first.

Cheers guys. Embarassingly I didnt even spot there was a dedicated Overlclocking forum.

Mods feel free to delete this.
