Hi guys,

I've finally got round to trying to overclock my Q6600 CPU on an Abit IP35 board. I've increased the FSB to 333 and changed the V Core to 1.3V (I think) and it's now clocked at 3GHz.

I've installed Speedfan to check the temps and noticed the CPU temp rising to 53 degrees C with a small flame symbol next to it. It's now back down to around 40. What is the safe range of temperatures that the CPU can take?

Cheers,

Jed.

Looks like I'm getting conflicting reports of my clock speed:

The Windows one shows it at 3GHz but the Core Temp one shows 2GHZ ... any ideas?

You've still got speedstep on i imagine. It's lowering your FSB and Voltage as there is no CPU usage. I'm using an IP35 too, i think it's under a menu called CPU Feature in the bios.

If it drops it when idle, does it put it back up when under load? I'll go and turn it off anyway.

I don't think I've set the V Core properly either - what's this labelled as on the IP35 Bios screen?
