Noob Overclocking Question

Hi all,

Ive just purchased a Core 2 Duo 6400, some GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit and an Asus P5B Deluxe Wi-Fi motherboard. I have the Arctic Cooler Pro as my cpu cooler and I was wondering if someone could help me overclock my system. I have read a couple of overclocking threads on this forum but when I try it my pc just doesnt diplay anything. I can only get it overclocked to 2.66ghz and then I have no idea whatsoever..

Can someone please help me out and point out where I am going wrong.

I'm going to try overclocking my new build when its all assembled. Never done it before and the threads make my head swim after a while but I'm hoping it will all make more sense as I'm actually doing it. The basics all seem to be in the stickies though.

Are you clocking via the BIOS or from within Windows? the BIOS is the place to be. You don't need to understand everything there is in there, but you need to know enough.

The sticky guides are well written and I'm not sure what extra it is you need to know, keep reading around until you understand them - other resources are available and you might find them more understandable.

If you can try to explain what it is you are doing and where you are running into probelms....
